This was a split 7" single which was the first and only thing I've had pressed onto real vinyl (so far). The 7" was part of a series called the super split singles club run by Minneapolis based label MPLS Ltd. The series paired up up-and-coming talent from the Minneapolis music scene with artists from around the globe. I was very pleased to be part of the project and to share a 7" with a fantastic track from Self Sound Orchestra. The INH track is titled 'A year without Christmas' and is perhaps one of the gloomiest INH tracks ever. It contains lots of loops and samples made on a borrowed sampler and a monologue which was cut to pieces and re-assembled in a more non-linear fashion. The track was inspired by a kid (about 14, I think) who I met at a children's birthday party one December. He told me that they most likely wouldn't celebrate Christmas at his house that year because all of his family members would be totally boozed by the time the 25th rolled around. He didn't seem fazed or in any way hard done by this and was in fact quite positive which I found intriguing. I think I was trying to somehow convey this positivity in the song but you'll only need to listen to it once to figure out that I failed epically in doing so.
